my 120's due a service.......I usually use 5w 30 fully synthetic ever 6 months:may (summer) and november (winter)

due to the mileage (110k) I'm thinking of changing to 10w 40 for the summer change, my logic being the lower viscosity isn't needed in warmer temperatures, and using the 5w30 in winter.

Firstly, is my summer/ winter logic sound:icon-question:.... I've only got a layman's understanding of oil viscosity figures....

Also, as an aside, if you were to mix 1l of 5w30 with 1l of 10w40 would you have 2l of 7.5w 35? does it work like that?
