Belated birthday wishes Clive, was mine last Friday & I'm closer to the dreaded retirement thingy than you.

All joking aside I think it's very kind of Clive to prepare for our visit in August by buying a pressure washer.

Thanks Sag, actually it was today, the time shift out here plays a few tricks. I posed this soon after midnight yesterday, but the timings on the posts are UK time so the post looks like late last night not early this morning :? That was a bit of a mouthful, but you get the point I suppose....

Thanks Joe, Gary & Ian.

No comments on the jet unit though, I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the spec.

I used to have a little B&D unit delivering 1200 psi. It was a gift so can't complain, but really, why did they bother making such a thing?

1200 psi is close to useless, unless you just want to wet something. Sure, it washed off loose stuff, but so will a garden hose with a stray head at about 3 bar.

So I was determined to get something substantial. Electric washers at a decent pressure, all seem to be 3 phase 400V, so I went for a petrol driven compressor.

This says 200 bar, which is 2,800 psi, and I think commercial jet washer pressure is about 3,000 psi.

Does anyone have better knowledge?

Happy happy - hope you've had a great day and an excellent year ahead

We use a diesel driven washer and that runs 2800 psi and its excellent. even better if you put the turbo nozzle on, mind your paint work though.

Hey, that's just what I was after Joe, confirmation that 200 bar was sufficient, rather than just a more powerful piece of junk!

Offroading here invariably entails getting clagged up with grey clay that is just about unmovable without some force. If I don't shift it while it's wet, in the summer, it sets like concrete, and I'm being quite literal here. So, by the time I get back to the city and the commercial car wash, it has set and they have great difficulty in shifting it too.

It's going to be a Godsend for the truck and useful for other cleaning too, pathways, rugs and stuff.

It's also going to be just in time for the Romania 2015 event, so everyone will benefit

I guess I'm a bit late to the party but Happy Birthday anyway!! [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]
