Right, having deliberated long enough, I'm looking for a good PETROL 80 series. Preferably one without a gas conversion.
Would like a manual, but auto will do too.

Now I would of course be delighted if I could find one in "THAT COLOUR"... but any will do except RED!

Anyone know of a good one anywhere? The lower the mileage the better of course.

PS I don't want the camo one in Herts for £8K....although it is blue underneath that mess apparently.

I think that all the UK 4.5 Petrol 80s were autos. If you really want a manual then it may have to be an import.

Good luck on your new "quest".

Why do you want one minus gas? wouldn't that be a bonus?

I went to look at this one - just to save you the trouble - it was a shed. Looks top notch in the pics, well it's not in the flesh. The lower tailgate was almost gone completely! Window surrounds at the back were rotted through. Didn't even ask for the keys.

This one looks a honey though. Seen the seats!!!!!

Quite a few out there it seems and good money too. Never seen a manual in the UK. By that I mean an imported one.

Chas, minus gas makes them cheaper and given that gas just isn't that sensible as it used to be and you have to move your spare or lose room in the boot, I can't see the point.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Went to see the Green one yesterday, The drivers seat has new leather squab so looks good. The rest is pretty poor though. Rusting tailgate, diff locks don't work, aircon buggered, wiring all over engine bay, lots of oil leaks, wouldn't start, ect etc etc. too cold and wet to get under a have a proper look see.

Going to see a white one tomorrow, looks promising.

Chas I'm old fashioned. Don't like what gas does to the motor, and I'm not too fussed about economy as it won't be a DD.

Flashlube sorts that though doesn't it, I did read somewhere that as it always starts on petrol before switching to gas, that was enough for the valves, dunno how accurate that is though.

You're kidding! You know, they say the camera doesn't lie. It bloody well does. It looked great. Mind you so did the blue one I went to look at.

Chris

I went to look at that blue one too! That thing still for sale!!

Really like the 4.5, great power and sounds good. I got a non lpg one too, yeah not great on fuel but didn't buy it for that lol.
There was a few sheds out there when I looked.

Good luck with the search

Went to go see this one today at Neene Overland. Was amazed at just how many Landy's they have there!

Anyway it was immaculate, I mean immaculate....almost too clean for an old truck that had done 150k miles.

The diffs didn't work, the interior was a bit loose, bits missing here and there, but the body was very very clean. Refurbished wheels and new BFG AT's.
Auto gearbox was pretty savage, (is this normal??)

Motor sounded ok and it drove pretty well with lots of power.
Underside was clean and looked like it had been dinitrol'd... Truck's def had a respray pretty recently, not a mark or scratch on it.

After Chris's episode I climbed up and had a good look at the roof... they hadn't bothered to touch that and that did have the old paint and a few dents and scrapes... so got me wondering...Now this is either a very very clean 80 Petrol or.... Its almost too clean on the surface, has it just been tarted up to cover the gremlins.

But...why would you refurb body and wheels and put 5 new BFG's(spare too) on it, then trade it for a Landy?
Answers on a postcard please .

Think theres a lot of this about nowadays , one garage tarts it up on the cheap then trades it with another garage so it can be sold in all innocence . A laundered vehicle if you like .
