Phil, this sounds like a rubber bush somewhere in the back
suspension. BUT I once had a fitter forget to tighten-up the mounting
bolt at the body end of the stabiliser (or 'track') bar that anchors
on the chassis behind the axle and then the other end fixes onto the
axle beyond the diff. Mine made a similar bumping noise just because
the bolt was loose, even though the nut was on finger tight. I just
wanged it up as tight as I could go with some red Loctite on the
threads and its been OK since. Its worth having a look.
