Hi Omar,
Sorry noone else has responded yet, hopefully some other will chip
in...
To start off with I know nothing of the HZJ75, but I am sure there are
one or two here that might be able to provide specifics, however here
is some general knowledge that I hope will help...
If you are working on a tight budget, the key things when preparing a
car for safety is to concentrate on safety and reliability first - once
you have these sorted then consider looking at the performance side of
things.
I assume that thee car will need to be prepared to a certain safety
standard, so you may need to fit things like a Roll Cage, fire
extinguishers, emergency engine cut-outs, decent seat belts, etc. The
rally organisers will have a standard that you have to reach so contact
them for more info.
You say that you are going to detune the 1HZ engine - why?
I would be inclined to make sure that the car is well serviced with new
oil for the engine, gearboxes, diffs, etc and on the engine change the
oil, water and fuel filters, change the belts (keeping the old ones as
spares), flush out the radiator, replace the thermostat as well as
change the brake pads and flush out the brake fluid.
You mentioned problems with the temperature guage - the LC ones are
notoriously unreliable - you should consider fitting an extra guage and
sender unit to provide a more precise temperature reading. If
interested I could find out where this can be fitted although I would
have thought that people local to you should know this.
If you are concerned about overheating, you may want to think about
fitting an extra oil cooler on the engine, this will also help long
term reliability.
Once you have considered the above, then consider looking at things
like improving the suspension. OME have a good reputation, but I think
you will struggle to find any suspension avialable second hand.
Well I hope that helps for a start, do reply to this message if you
have any more specific questions.
