i just took all the springs and levers off and put a blanking plate over the hole of the wax plunger.
the only difference is that it runs a bit rough at startup when it freezes. But back to normal after a minute.

You're getting confused here with the ACSD device. The actuator in the thread is to raise the idle speed slightly when the AC is switched on and has nothing to do with cold starting.
