Puter virus

Lucky old me has gone & got a virus, no not the sniffles a puter virus, called Blinx, every time i go from one page to another, site to site, up pops this bloody Blinx page, googled it & followed instructions to try & get rid but can't, slowed puter right up as well.

IMO the safest way is to save your files off the PC and reinstall the platform.

It's a PITA because you lose your software, but what you have you can reinstall.

Alternatively buy an anti-virus software, but make sure you have a live one that updates the known viruses.

2nd alternative is to lend your PC to an IT specialist who will load an anti-virus system for a one-time clean-up. The problem is, many of these viruses get into the system files, which normally means re-installing the platform anyway.

Malwarebytes first, which is free and go from there.

Wot Ed says... Free install of Malwarebytes, Superantispyware & CCCleaner & run them one after the other . Repeat every week or so. Found them as good as some of the very expensive options (also recommended as an install by BT tech).

Hold down the off button for 30 seconds then turn it back on , you will be given options on how you want the com to start , select safe boot . Com will look weird coz all but the most essential programs are frozen to prevent a virus from hiding or interfering . Then just run a full system scan with your normal anti-virus . 99% of the time it will find the virus and jobs a goodun . Hold down the off button for 30 seconds then turn it on and select normal boot .

You could try doing a system restore back to an earlier dated restore point before you had the virus, this has worked for me in the past and as a first attempt it saves you having to reinstall any other bits of software you've installed previously.

Right done everything suggested above & still having same problem, suppose it's off to the putor garage tomorrow.
