Hi
Metric fine thread blots are quite easy to get hold of. But also dot for
get the make sure you get the right tensile strength bolts for the job.
The existing bolts of the yota will have a reference on then on the head
you can use that as a point of reference for your repayment bolts

I am doing the same thing but already start! Yet I am build my own winch
bumper from steel plates and welding post. You will have a bad time
finding them bolts. Toyota uses special bolts with fine bolt threads. I
had to special order them just yesterday. The metric sizes of bolts are
normal but rare to find them in such fine bolt threads.

I found them at a grossiste (whole seller?) here in France. They will be
rust plated in cadmium where the original Toyota bolts are only black
plated in some thing that does not resist rust so much.

Do not give in to temptation and use super hardend bolts. It is better
to have your mounting bolts bend or brake if you have a collision than
to have your chassis bent.

Once I get my LC back from having its new head gasket fitted I=92ll be
fitting the ARB bumper.

On the assumption that I should fit new bumper bolts regardless of the
condition of the old ones what bolts do I need? Is there a Toy part
number? Or should I get them elsewhere?

Ray,

Your new currency confused me, probably Benoit as well =93repayment bolts=94 =96
must be cause it=92s a Friday, took 30 seconds of looking at it before I
realised to spellchecker had corrected a misspelt =93replacement=94 to
=93repayment=94!

I think it is a sign of the superior engineering that metric fine is used,
most car manufactures used some fine threads but Toyota seem to specialise
in it =96 strangest bolt on my 40 series so far is an M11 fine set bolt (ie
has a shoulder, not threaded all the way). (Only thing odder than an M11 in
the metric range is M7 =96 never seen one, probably never will).

Hi all,
My TJM front bumper may be different from ARB, but is probably fitted
in a similar way - four M14 bolts 8.8 grade on each side of the
chassis rail bracket.
I wouldn't worry about fine thread. Once the bolt gets slightly
corroded it won't get undone anyway. A spring washer will do.
In such condition my bumper has survived several hundred miles of
corrugations and a few impacts against grassy and sandy banks.
