Rear brake pads/discs query.

Decided to do the rear pads today.

Each bad has a small 'W' shaped clip at the bottom, guess its some sort of anti rattle device. Should there be one at the top of the pad as well?

Also. the front pads had a thin plate between the piston and the back of the pad - should there be one on the back as well?

Found the first disc to be in poor condition, the face of the old pad is badly grooved as a result, so am going to order new rear discs.

Is that W clip the squealer that alerts you to worn brake pads?

I dont know is the short answer, on the front there are two contacts, but nothing on the rear, so its possible thats what the W is for.

Have fitted one set of new pads, but have also decided to fit new rear discs, as they are down to minimum if not less! Have ordered a set from Roughtrax for delivery tomorrow, should be a busy weekend.....
