Rear diff actuator

What a waste of a day, sort of.
I have managed to get everything back together but I'm not convinced that
the retapped hole is gripping the bolt - it seemed quite loose when screwing
back in so I haven't torqued it up tightly, just in case it strips. I will
have to revisit that soon and tap a bigger hole.
I did get to have a look at the actuator though. I couldn't remove the
actuator assembly because the two top bolts wouldn't budge and I wasn't
going to risk shearing those as well.
The push rod seems to move fairly freely and the motor runs when the diff
switch is activated but the actuator assembly doesn't seem to have enough
power to push the rod. All the way in, it stops half way.
Something else I'll have to have a look at another day.

Pete,
Another day should see you Heli-coiling the thread. What size is it?

Well remember Peter that the rod that locks the axle can not go all
the way inside it's hole until one hole turn of the axle maybe is
gone. Else wise it sits and waits to go in the hole. May be that is
half way you see!

Unfortunately not Benoit. I positioned the wheels so that I could move the
actuator rod by hand so as to lock the diff. Then leaving the wheels in that
position I activated the switch. The motor tries to move but the rod remains
stationary, it doesn't move at all.
It's as though the motor simply has no power. The rod moves easily by hand.
There's no corrosion inside the actuator and everything seems free to move.
Pete
