thanks for the offer warren. Kicking myself as sold my Kaymar bar before returning from OZ for next to nothing. Should have thrown it in the container.
Kaymar/ARB would be great but bit out of my budget and probably overkill for relatively short trips I take to the mainland and back.
Thinking one of the french bars suggested would probably do the job unless I can convince Geert to build me another one
And congratulations to Clive for getting his ARB bar under the nose of his misses. I am still trying to convince my better half the new tyres are cheap retreads...
Dave, aren't there any small metal companies around that can build it fo you? Or a friend with a welder? You can order the bumper at frogs and order the spindles and latch on the internet. (Mine came from the USA, comp 4x4). I also ordered some gas struts for the swing outs on the internet.
Yeah Geert, that is a possibility I will need to look into.
Might be the best way to get exactly what I want or come to yours in the middle of the night with some tools!
If you get a chance I might need to get some dimensions with regards the swing outs you made up for the wheel carrier/ladder. Any extra pics appreciated if you get a chance.
The frogs rear bumper weighs 40 kg, plus spindles and carrier which depending how you build them may not weigh much more than the OEM wheel carrier you'll take off.
Jon, problem is I have no wheel carrier at all, just the usual VX plastic bits.
Can no longer carry spare as upped tyre size so looking at rear carrier options.
Warming to idea of building one myself. It's all Geert's fault....
Geert, when you get a chance could you PM or post details of the carrier build and any other pics you have?
Thinking particularly of any dimensions for the section you created to attach the wheel if you remember them.
And congratulations to Clive for getting his ARB bar under the nose of his misses. I am still trying to convince my better half the new tyres are cheap retreads. Dave.
