Hi Guys
I would like to know if any of you know where to get a rear wheel carrier
for my cruiser. I have tried here and as usual I may as well be speaking
japanese.
I think ill have to start up my own 4x4 store here na they all say the
market here has no demand for the stuff I look for. So thanks for the info
in advance. Enjoy the Biling show who ever is going and Renate dont give up
yet you will get to go.

John,
You can, if you're in the money ... I know ... buy the OEM bracket. I
can see that a great deal of imported LCs have these brackets already
fitted. This leads me to another conclusion - some of these LC have
been totalled so the brackets shouldbe available from car breakers.
The third option (Kaymar, Out of Town) requires also replacing the
rear bumper, which is even more costly.
Great idea ! :)
Maybe not :-(

Hi Roman,
Unfortunately the Toyota carrier doesn't fit other LCs, the rear pillar
is re-inforced to support it and both halves of the boot hatch are
modified to accept it.
Having said that you could by the boot hatches as well and also add
your own custom re-inforcement brackets to the pillar.
If you don't want to splash out on a new bumper as well, I have seen
wheel carriers that bolt onto the chassis through the existing bumper
which will be a bit cheaper, not sure who makes them but you might be
able to find someone locally willing to fabricate one for you.

Putting on a rear wheel carrier (Toyota one) would cost GBP2000+
I know as I got a quote from Toyota dealer after they claimed there wasn't
such a think (they verified by looking up their system). However talking to
a toyota dealer in South Africa he faxed me all the part numbers etc.
Then gave that to my local dealer and 2 weeks later they cam back with the
price Oh and it would take 3 months to get from Japan!
Also u need to have your rear quarter panel reinforced to hold it (Asian and
SA market already have that extra strengthening)
So go for after market as suggested or do what I did and go to the local
farmer/tractor welding place and for GBP100 they made me a (not fancy) swing
out rear carrier (still going 6 yrs later if a bit noisier).
