guys need some body to recomend a good mechanic/garage who knows is lc 80,my 96 4.2 is running really roughly(sounds like a petrol engine that's missing)i'm no mechanic so i honestly wouldn't know what to do.
the sooner the better before i do more damage as i'm still using the truck every day.
i'm in w.london but i don't mind driving few miles for genuine and honest work.

Obvious things to check are fuel filter in the engine bay and the fuel pick-up screen in the fuel tank. Chances are you have a clogged up filter - assuming you haven't put petrol/water/vodka in the fuel tank  Have you run bio-diesel/veg oil in it recently? If so, you'll almost certainly have a clogged filter because bio-diesel loosens all the crud in the tank and fuel lines, which then makes its way into the filter.

More serious possibilities are injectors or injection pump...
If doing the filter check is beyond you, Cruisers Overland down in Burgess Hill are probably your nearest cruiser specialists, although any local mechanic could surely(?) check the filter for you.

hi andrew
no, it's none of that and i def have not run it on any form of bio,i changed the fuel filter only a moth ago when i got my nephew to do the timing belt and also did the oil and oil filter at the same time.
he would look at truck but he lives in m.keynes and he's always busy.

i've taken your advice and booked it in for fri.8/7/11 at landcruisersoverland.

thanks once again RAM

As andrew says check fuel side first.

Could well be as simple as the fuel filter housing is letting air in.

I would just bypass the filter to eliminate it.

May be cheaper quick fix before you let the lads have it.

Karl

thanks carl

i'll get on to it first thing in the morning

no harm in having a look

thanks again

Another possibility is that the timing is out - hopefully not the case.
As Karl suggested, leading candidate is a bad seal on the fuel filter, which is sucking in air.

The guys at LCO will see you right
