Well, I'd be the last person to say anywhere in the UK is like the Sahara, because it obviously aint, as if it would be....
Thankyou for your input. I will check out some places anyway, just for the sake of it, as there might be sopme takers, one never knows

st1:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) }Renate, The only place I can think of with a reasonable amount of sand driving is the army land often used for 4x4 events in Bordon, Hampshire. The Sahara it ain't * as Roman and Jeremy have said the sand is usually damp and presents no challenge at all to drive over, and there's plenty of mud as well. There is an All Wheel Drive Club open day on the 27th of December * about =A320-=A325 to play all day as I recall. You will probably find a few of the "guts and glory" element I recall you being concerned about prior to Salisbury, but most participants are there to enjoy a non-damaging day out at there own level. If my cruiser is fixed in time I'd be glad to meet you or any other listers there. There is (was) a site called 'Sahara Sands' near Melksham * not too far away from you, but it is a disused (empty) sand quarry and I remember it being mostly clay and mud, and quite small. Any of you know a good place to sand-play?
Just interested - mud is okay but it would be nice to have a place where I could practice in the gold stuff.
