Save John's carrier!!

Morning all,
Lets see if we can pull together to help John out, otherwise we will
never hear the end of his carrier ;-)) Also it might help others
looking for a cheap carrier.
If Clive or one of the others on the list with a Jap import and factory
rear tyre carrier could email me their VIN number, Frame number, Model
name/number from the ID plate under the bonnet, I might be able to dig
out the part numbers for the brackets that go on the inside of the
pillar.
Also, Dave, would you be able to take any digital photos of the bracket
that you have?
The other thing that I think is quite important is the rubber receiver
on the top boot lid that helps reduce vibration - I didn't see it in
the photos of the kit that John sent me, so any photos or info on that
would be handy.

Thanks Clive,
I think that I have found it.
Does the plate actually give a VIN number, should be something along
the lines of 07922580?

Hi Julian and Guys and good morning to you all
Geese we are in good form today or do you really mean I should shut up and
leave you all alone. Ok and there was me only wanting to keep you all
informed and if mine worked out then others could get their hands one one
too. Less of the cheap if you dont mind. I would rather think of it as an
economially viable alternitive and extremly well assembled aftermarket wheel
carrier Ah well I think Ill go and sulk for the day now that I have been
slaged and I will not post anymore unless its a matter of life or death. NA
NOT A HOPE YOU WOULD HAVE TO SLAG A LOT MORE AND FOR A FEW MONTHS OR EVEN
YEARS. Thanks geese Ill have to come up with another word to express my
appritation for all your help, but that could take me a while, cause Im
preoccupied with my CARRIER, sorry didn,t mean to say the word.

Julian
A little late but my car is Jap spec, with a rear wheel carrier and the
details are as follows...
Model S-HDJ81V-RNPGX
Engine 1-HDT
Frame HDJ81-0037464
Colour 6M1
Trim FC10
Trans A442F
Axle K294
Plant A
Built 11
I'd take a picture of the setup on my car but the digital camera is on
holiday at the moment and won't be back until tonight...
What is clear is that the pillar is beefed up, the tailgate too from what I
can see.
By the way, Eric came to see me last night and I showed him round my car...
He needs to get a vehicle quick if he is going at the end of Jan. Hope it
helped him tho'.

Hi Jeremy,
Many thanks for those. It is interesting with the Jap models that they don't
seem to have proper VINs so trying to track down the exact vehicle.
I have managed to dig out a parts list and a diagram that I have sent to John
although the images for the Jap EPC don't seem to be as crisp as the Euro
models.
I get the impression that there are mounting plates behind every item that
bolts to the body, which would make sense to spread the load.
Great, thanks for that. He is very keen on a 70 series, but might be swayed
by an 80, I'll need to catch up with him after yesterday. We were actually
looking at a 75 on eBay, but it seemed too much for the high mileage. The
next option it to look into importing one.
I certainly think that he will go down the TLC route as opposed to the LR
route.
