Save me from temptation !

I won't upset you by mentioning the ST Maxx then mate

I was looking at them too, but they don't look aggressive enough, somehow. STT PROs look great, but maybe they're too soft a compound.

Now treps, I was drooling over for ages for the offroad set of wheels.

Had to go and change, after... :shifty:

Well Mr Horridge given your truck is older than Jesus i wonder if 15" wheels will fit ?

The reason i ask is i intend to take a long hard look at how i might fit 15's to mine . If i can't i will regret noticing that the extra inch adds circa 400 quid to a set of 5 tyres !

I've already had a look into this Shayne, 15s with -20 go on with no more than 1mm of clearance to the caliper.

It was too close for comfort for me I'm afraid.

I've heard of folks "shaving" the calipers, but I don't fancy that much either.

It's not the price that's getting to me, (though we all like a bargain) it's availability here that's my problem.

I can arrange shipping (by truck) from London, but I have to give a guy an address to collect from, so ideally a seller in London would be my best bet.

I was sounding other European suppliers, because the same shipper would be able to collect them from anywhere on the London-Bucharest run.

Money ain't the issue for me either but as her indoors has also stolen my wheels i do have to wonder at a difference of £250 versus £160 for the same tyre , a mm clearance wouldn't bother me i would have thought it virtually guarantees nothing can get jammed between .

I can't help thinking the zilla's might be worth a gamble at 160

The problem (I'm told) in heavy clay mud (which I have in the lane behind me) it collects on the inside of the rim and without an escape route, gets pressed into the calipers.

No idea if it's just a surmise, but I didn't like the look of it TBH, crawling underneath.

I've also got ten 10 x 16" rims all the same in my attempts to get some uniformity, so I don't really want to go diving into an alternative....

Give it a shot, but to get a 33" from a 15" rim, what's that, 305/80/15 ??

Nah, just checked, a 305/75/15 will give you the same diameter as a 305/70/16

I run 15" rims with my 35s, no shaving calipers etc. 10x15 rims -44mm offset and 6mm spacers has plenty clearance.
I'd rather have decent AT tyres then the bfg muds, breaks traction too easily on wet roads! Accelerating round wet roundabouts can be fun.

True enough Gary, I normally never use the muds on asphalt, but until I get my hands on a set of ATs, I don't have much choice.

I imagine the -44 offset and spacers helps, that's -50, as you do have the bigger calipers and discs, being a '97 truck.

Your scored twice there Gary because it has repeatedly been said 15" wheels will not fit a 90 so my hope lies in the fact i am one of rare few 90 owners that run a large negative offset , shame buying a new wheel is the only real way to test it .

You also hit the nail on the head as to why i want Cooper stt owl , despite being aggressive tread they are a soft compound that stick's well to any surface and though i doubt they are capable of BFG miles my last set , which were bought used never let me down even when severely and unevenly worn .

Still i'm expecting at least 30k miles from my current set which is non to shabby .

I think my bfgs are just going hard tbh They're not exactly new and I bought second hand to put them on the Isuzu. I've only done 600 miles since December so not wearing down anytime soon either

I stopped using the 255's as kept spinning tyres! All I run now is the muds. It's pretty unstoppable off road but Needs some AT's on I think.
