The Turbo install was not without a lot of care. The last 1hz I turboed was at 650,000 km and the motor went on to do over 1 million Kms. It was also at 1 bar (15psi). Just got to follow some basic goldern rules.

Photos of the gearbox and bell housing preparation as well as a vib on the machining on their way. Looking back on it I have to have a bit of a laugh but no machining shop would have a go at it unless I totally stripped the gearbox and handed them an empty housing. That seemed to me a much bigger challenge than working out how to do the machining myself. Turned out I was right.

Trying to workout how to upload files. Size is the issue so will copy in a Dropbox link.

I would love to see the vids & pics of the conversion.
@Nissanclubman : what plc do you use to monitor it?

I settled on the Velocio Ace 3090v5 and standard HMI through the RS232 port for the Turbo and engine monitoring. They have some cool tools and can either use ladder or Flow chart programming structure. http://velocio.net/ace/

However I have other mods I am planing and have outgrown the 3090 so am working to convert it across to an Arduino UNO mico controller platform.

the programming of the ace looks a lot easier than the arduino.
reminds me of the Siemens Logo! programs

btw love your setup with the router

I've used router bits in my jig borer for ally and brass, The bits are surprisingly hard and long lived.

Yes it's surprising what can me done with a bit of the "Have a go" mind set. The risk was I could have stuffed up a perfectly good MT82 gearbox and through away the $780 it cost but on the other hand the 1HZ thanks me for the conversion every day I drive up and down the Toowoomba range.. Its a whole different car to drive.

Wow! You actually welded it successfully! That’s not easy without major distortion, cracking or a host of other problems.
Hats off to you for that bit alone!!

Hat's off indeed! I love the 'have ago' attitude.

I have often found that many projects do work but it is the finer issues like the speedo connection, and gearstick/Hi Lo selector position that spoil the overall effect, any issues such as this?

regards

Wow this conversion excites me, have been mucking around with different ideas about replacements for my 1fz due to obvious high fuel consumption and lack of balls. So now that i know this gearbox can be done, im wondering how an 80 would go with complete 3.2&auto? Do you have more details on what had to changed as far as driveshafts, transfer case, mounting etc would be very interested!! Cheers

Can I contact you for further information on this conversion?

Hi Dan and welcome, you need to get your post count up to 10 or 15 I forget which but then you’ll be able to send a private message or ‘conversation’ as the forum calls it.
It’s a friendly helpful forum with great folks so pop over to the ‘introduce yourself ‘ section and well, introduce yourself, then postup some funny pics or jokes or comments and you’ll soon be at 15. Looks like Nissanclubman is still a member. He may well respond on here as the forum sends an email if you put the @ in front of the name.
Good luck
Rich
