Go for 2.4, I have just measured it and I think 2.3 would be a
bit short. You can always set the overlap with positioning.

My Patriot is 2m 23 cms - sounds an odd size I know but I've just been out to
measure it!
I wouldn't go beyond the front of the windscreen - if you are putting lights on
it you may get bounce and reflection on the bonnet and screen. 2.3 will do you
fine.
