High Intensity Docket Lights. They came out last year but they've had them in Australia for ages - everyone's got them. Basically it illuminates your docket/glovebox way beyond the current manufacturer spec. Very handy if you've lost something. Frog Island does them at =A3350 pair includng fitting.

OK so I didn't know what they were either. Sadly I would have probably
bought them if they had existed when I did my trip!

Graham, it's mean to tease him, English isn't his first language!!

HID =3D High Intensity Discharge headlight bulbs, which are 2x to 3x brighter than ordinary halogen ones.
When fitted as original equipment they have an automatic levelling device to try to stop them dazzling oncoming drivers when on dipped beam. So there is some argument over their legality when fitted in place of halogen bulbs in ordinary headlights because there is no such device. In the UK all the law says is that your lights must be adjusted so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers and, so far as I know, no one has been prosecuted for fitting them. But the law in Norway may be different.

I wonder if Norway is like Germany where fitting equipment not TUV
approved for the actual installation is a big no no.
We actually get away with quite a lot of mods in the UK particularly
if the insurance company is in that Market and understands the vehicle.

You're right actually although I did get stopped greenlaning in my Landrover
90 once by a traffic bloke (as the byway crossed a highway) and he gave me a
VDRS (get this fixed in 14 days or you'll go to court) for those bush wire
things that go from the front edges of your bonnet to the roof. The are
supposed to stop branches swinging in and hitting your windscreen but he was
concerned it would decapitate a cyclist. No probs with the bullbars or
anything else mind you.

More or less like Germany, yes. Although many do change the halogen bulbs
for HID.
HID is popularly called Xenon in Norway - same thing.
I've seen them in the parts list for the 100. Otherwise very useful as
extra driving lights. I've got a pair of Hella Micro Xenon, - lights up
the night....
