i own land cruiser year2000, the speedo shows incorrect speed, any advice please......

You're going to have to give some more detail.

I've moved the topic.

re-speedo, when its showing 70mph on the clock its only travaling at 66mph, is this a land cruiser problem??

That's only about 5% out - seems normal to me. Most speedos (not just Toyotas) over-read to keep you on the safe side of limits.

I believe over-reading is in fact a requirement (for manufacturers of new cars) under EU law. Perfectly normal in other words ;)

Are you running the correct size tyres as manufacture recomendation ?

yes tyres right size, same size as it came on from new, it just seems to have got worse the older its got.....

Manufacturers are required to 'build in' a margin of plus 5%, speeding tickets not issued at less than 5% + 2mph. **

This means that at 70mph you will be doing an actual 64.5mph.

That of course only works when the vehicle is the original setup and tyres are fully treaded, as my 95 runs on oversized tyres my speedo now reads at minus 5%, so at 70 I am travelling at 73.5mph.

So your speedo sounds about right.

** Except 30mph zones, where there is no exemption, 31mph = ticket/fine etc. This is because your speedo would be showing at least 33.5mph.

It would be nice to know where you live and how long you have been driving.
