Morning All,

A friend is trying to persuade me to provide support for a bunch of friends heading out to Strata Florida on their motorbikes this Saturday.

I get the impression they will be running it a few times so I'll just end up pottering up and down it.

I've not been down it for a few years, but assume there shouldn't be any issues for a solo 80?

I would been keen to tag along if you don't mind i've no winch but my truck would make a good anchor given all the rain we've had ?

Went both ways about a year ago and was no trouble for my 80. Has anything changed since then? Not sure.

Rob, would a stock Defender or 110 get through? I assume so.

Shayne, unless things have changed big time I doubt a winch will be required although I recall it can get quite wet so perhaps a snorkel would help. Need to see what the others have planned at the moment.

Would have been fine for a defender as well although a snorkel would be a sensible mod to have, especially if it has been raining a fair bit but then you should avoid it anyway. From memory there was one tippy section around a very deep puddle and that was it. You could drive round the bomb hole when I last went.

Last time I went the water was very deep in places over bonnet deep in a 110 on 9.00 x16 so just check and be prepared to turn around if you don't have a snorkel. I expect it will be high water from all the rain we have had.
have a great time

The crossing just south of the waterfall is deep if you drive through the middle but stick to the bothy side and you will be fine. The level goes up and down pretty quick and is not often up.

I've driven it 10+ times and only once have I managed to find it in full spate. That was after 24 hours of torrential rain and resulted in water half way up the windscreen. :icon-twisted:

Yikes i haven't got a snorkel (and have no intention of fitting one) so it looks like the wrong time of year for me , but the Strata Florida is only about 100 miles from me so i would like to take a look around preferably with someone who has been there before so i don't wander into places i shouldn't be such as private property or submerged bomb holes !

If you have a postcode for a meeting point Julian i would be grateful ?

Hi Jon,

Do you have a grid reference for that part.

Looking at my MM, the last time I went was with you on an ELCO weekend back in 2009!!

Thanks.

Hi Shayne,

To be honest you will be better off going with other members of the club who may be taking in a selection of lanes. Our focus for Saturday is supporting the guys on the motor bikes and a bit of light entertainment for the children so I'm wary about escorting others down the track - sorry.

OK Julian no worries just been wondering for a while where exactly it is i had no plan to go there any time soon , your post just kinda made me think well i'm doing nothing next Saturday . Hope the weathers kind for you .

SN8058560926. I don't think you'll miss it, it looks like it might be deeper and you don't have to hug the bank, just keep to the side. I haven't been for a while so as ever poke anything you don't like the look of with a stick first
