The Gap (and others) this Sunday (15th)

At the urging of a few colleagues this trip is back "on-list".
Sunday 15th October.
I'm open to suggestions for modifying this trip but these are my thoughts.
If anyone has time or other issues then tell me and I'll modify accordingly.
Meet 11 a.m. Merthyr Tydfil
Proceed from there to drive north over Sarn Helen to Brecon
Brecon to Pontsticill - The Gap
Pontsticill to Talybont (RUPPs, including the old "tram roads" at Talybont)
All welcome for the whole trip or you can join in at Brecon just for The Gap
(probably about 1.30)
There are no particular issues with Sarn or the Gap except for the Gap steps
at Tor Glass and the blown bridge on the Gap. If you have a lift + bigger
tyres you should have absolutely no problem; if you have a standard vehicle
then so long as you are on AT's at least then you should be OK, may have to
watch your line on the steps. Should be non-damaging but I make no
guarantees. The Tram Roads at Talybont may be slightly scratchy (bush twigs
only, no branches) but nothing to worry about for most.
I have no idea of total numbers yet but if lots then we may have to split
into groups, we'll see.
Sorry if this is duplication for some but whoever wants to come along can
they please email me at

When replying can you let me know whether you want to do the whole trip,
just The Gap or whatever.
All suggestions welcome.

Hi Peter
I know I cant go but if you have the time have you pics or a map of the gap etc to give an idea of what you are all talking about.
I know its terrible being nosy but I am very curious.

Do you mean the links to the videos? If so then cut and paste exactly as
shown =96 the links are case sensitive.

Looks like a good turnout for Sunday.
Everyone that said they're coming should have an itinerary now and the
weather looks as though it might even be kind to us!!
Looking forward to a nice day.

Pete,
I know most of it, (I think), but where in Merthyr are we
going to meet. I did not get a reply to my CB question.
Is this a packed lunch day or are we in the vicinity of
snack shops sometime? Thanks.
Regards, Clive.
