I am wondering which oil should I get for my j95 land cruiser with 1KD-FTV engine. Somewhere I heard that 5w30 should be used, the previous owner told me "I used Castrol 5w30 oil for diesels". I also can't find the right information about the oil specification - the owner's manual for j90, 95 series which circles this forum does not include 1KD-FTV engine so the information from there isn't really helpful.
So I'm looking for the correct engine oil specification for j95 with 1KD-FTV engine, could someone put me in the right direction? Maybe someone has a owner's manual for j90/95 with 1KD-FTV engine and would find this information for me?
The only knowledge I gained was by looking the specification of original Toyota FE 5w30 oil called the "fuel economy" which is supposed to be for vehicles without DPF filter - older diesels like 1KD-FTV in j95.
I compared the original's specification to Castrol oil and found out:
Toyota FE 5w30 (08880-80846): SAE 5W-30, API SL/CF, ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5
Castrol Magnatec Professional A5 5W-30: SAE 5W-30, ACEA A5/B5, ACEA A1/B1, API SN/CF
CASTROL GTX 5W-30 A5/B5: ACEA A5/B5 (partial match with the original)
Castrol magnatec professional A5 5W-30 comes the closest to the original oil according to the specification, should I be using it?
I'm so focused on Castrol and 5w30 oil because I always went by the rule of "don't change the brand/type of oil if it works good", maybe I'm wrong.
Your thoughts?
