Alternator replaced, so Alternator charge, Water in fuel filter, engine oil level, T-Belt and handbrake Warning lights have now all gone out when the engine is running......

......why do Toyotas do that when the Alternator fails?

If it's a 4 wire plus the heavy charge wire to the battery type alternator, then the ecu does the job for the voltage regulator... if the alternator is shot then the ecu shits itself and gives you shock of all the instrument panel lights illuminated... luckily you're able to fix it but to the general public they take it to the service garage where they pay extortionate wallet lightening values to get the lights to be switched off !

Good to see you getting swampy sorted mate..

Ah, Iwan You are a true guru Mine is indeed a four wire connection. Don’t know about the ECU shiting itself, but I know I certainly did at first. Two brand new batteries and her first start up after 2 years of SORN The alternator looked like it had been resting in a Lincomb Jus for that whole time and just was not worth the effort to clean, so exchanged it for a refurb at my local MF for £142.00

Today, put new (second hand) front axle in, fit transfer box seal, rear axle pinion seal, half shaft inner seal and re-grease rear bearing, then a couple of cans of brake cleaner and the whole hand brake madness ready for an MOT some time next week, fingers crossed

I know I’m not as young as I was a couple of years ago, but seemed a lot harder to get back in than I’ve done before......

.....never had to scissor jack it in place before :0))

Welcome back steve. Dont forget lincomb is coming up ;)

Mr Webster you Legend, how is that ever growing family of yours? :)

It's not escaped my attention that there's a Lincomb coming up, but I've got a pretty big up hill challenge with Swampy! Fingers crossed though, she's booked in for her first MOT on Friday after 2/3 years of SORN. Done the alternator and new batteries, replaced the front axle and seals, still got a CV with a greasy water Jus to deal with and a brake light out that's not the lamp. Pulled out the leaking rusted through rear heater lines and blanked. front springs and shocks are looking a bit corroded though , so have some concern over though's not to mention how the discs look! Put new seals in the Transfer box outputs and am now doing the rear half shaft oil seal leak, pinion seal, handbrake shoes, discs and pads. Interior lights not working when doors are opened, but suspect the ball bearing in the centre light to be at fault and air-con not working, possibly the clutch air gap or low gas pressure :p

Just took a delivery from Milners of filters and engine oil....

Wish me luck :laughing-rolling:

All good mate thanks. Hope you guys are too.?

Make it happen mate. Yourll sort it I have faith in you.

OK, so she's back on the road after nearly 3 years! She's not perfect, but pretty much done apart from one annoying throttle fault that still requires a bit of chasing around....

Don't get me to price anything for you

Good though to resurrect a Collie. I see a few on drives just stood these days. If my D4D had been just a bit better I might have kept it ( and it was decent). Big jump to a 120 but I've not regretted it. I'd have another if I could find one good enough.
This looks worth a punt but starting too high.

Good looking truck for the money

To be honest they seem to be making good money compared to what I paid for Swampy 8 years ago. I’ve been looking and comparable unmodified Colorado’s are up for sale for between £5 & 6K! Not far short of what I paid for Swampy all that time back

Lincomb is on the cards then?

Well done getting it back on the road

Making and asking can be a sight different Steve. I've viewed a few Collies since I sold mine and they've all been rough as toast. I think with the lack of money about stuffs not making premium prices. That said if that had been within 50 miles of here I'd have given it a view. 17 hours to go and no bids.

Great work Steve (as always), good to see you are back on the road.
