Hi guys,

I have a problem, my tc will only lockup when the landcruiser is cold. My landcruiser is a 80vx diesel htfe. Will this make a big difference to diesel consumtion when driving in overdrive with tc not lockedup? Why should warm oil make a difference to tc? Look forward to reading your coments

Regards,

Johan bakker.

Driving it at speed unlocked is not a good idea, it will cook the box, so round town at speeds it wouldn't lock anyway is ok but till you fix the problem I'd avoid going any faster.

There are a few things that could be causing lock up to stop working. I would start by checking that the lock up solenoid is working correctly, it could be that once it gets hot it fails. You'd need the FSM and a multimeter so you can measure the solenoid coil resistance and really you need to do the tests when the box is warm and not working right.
