Hi Folks
Has anyone ever come across a 3D CAD model of the body of an 80 series
Toyota Landcruiser? I'm guessing not as I can't see Toyota ever releasing
this info nor anybody taking the time to generate it but if you don't ask
you dont get right?
Cheers
Brett

Hi,
I doubt if Toyota will, 3d scanner and a matchbox model?

Hi Brett,
Had a good google on that one, there are models available for purchase, but
I cannot find an 80 series.
70 series to 200 series, but no 80 series. Which surprises me.
Nearest I could find for free is here
http://www-roc.inria.fr/gamma/download/VANSUTIL/names.php which has a rough
model of a 60 series.
There are licensing restrictions with that of course, but it may be of help.
I used to play with Lightwave for rendering, but my modelling skills are
nonexistent.
May I ask why you need it or your use for it?
Martin.

Hi Martin
Thanks for the email. I use Solidworks a bit and was planning on designing
a few bits and pieces for the wagon. I haven't had it long and have a few
plans for decking it out but in an effort to try and save some cash I
thought I'd price up some parts which I'm designing myself. Makes life a
bit easier having a defined model of the vehicle to reference dimensions
off. Not sure if the money saving part of the plan will pan out but still
an interesting little project to keep me entertained.
Cheers
Brett

Arrr Toyota is going to be the best bet to make sure the dimensions are
correct.
Wonder if anyone here can pull any strings? Anyone know anyone in Toyota
Japan J?
Seriously though I doubt if Toyota will provide them, but then maybe they
will if approached correctly.
Keep us informed if you get anywhere, I would love one of a KZJ70...in fact
I might email them for a laugh!
Might also be worth sticking a post on the ih8mud site.

If you are thinking of making parts could you use a Finite Element model (nodes and elements) rather than a CAD one (Lines, splines, Nurbs surfaces)? I can explain more about FE models if you are not familiar with them, but I should think SolidWorks should be able to fit surfaces to an FE mesh if given a little manual guidance.
I found some pictures of what looks like 80 series suspension & transmission FE models on the South African LC site, see for example http://www.landcruiserclub.co.za/cm...splayimage&meta=3Dlastup&album=3D482&pos=3D11
You have to be a member, which I am not, to access more details but it does suggest that somebody somewhere has done some work on this sort of thing. It's also highly likely that these meshes were originally built from CAD data, so that info might be available too.
Hope it helps.

Might also try FUQI in China as they bought the 80 series plans from Toyota and still build an 80 lookalike but with a 3l Nissan engine.
