Type of oil 1HDft

Lads what oil are you guys using for a 1hdft? Castrol maybe? 10W40.
Vehicle has 185,000 miles.

The cheapest on ebay as long as it's the same quality as that defined in owners manual. 20 litres at a time.

I use 10/40, 15/40, 20/40 depending what I can find or sometimes a mixture. Fully synthetic is wasted on such an engine as this. I've used long drain 15/40 turbo diesel mineral oil on all the Cruisers including petrol ones .
I change 80's every 5K
120 and Hilux every 7-8K 3.0 D4D
100 series 5-6K
90 V6 petrol every 5K
Always use a genuine filter.

For the UK climate, 10w40 or 15w40, API CD/CE/CF and shop around for whatever is on offer. The 1H series are old, comparatively dirty engines so won't benefit from the latest spec oils aimed at long drain intervals.
