understanding things

Hi Guys
I am as usual trying to understand more and so have a question if you would
be so kind to answer it for me.
What is a steering damper and when should you or do you need to replace it.
Have read you could/should replace after 50,000 miles.
What is a shock/stabilizer and what is the difference between it and the
damper.
Would a 2 inch caster bush kit improve stability with a 2 inch lift.
I know its a general rule with the 2 inch lift you dont need the correction
but if you had the correction would it (the cruiser) behave better.
cheers

Hi John,
The damper is there to reduce shock impacts feeding back through the steering
- if you look under your front pumper you will see it attached to the steering
arm.
Not seen that, I would only replace it if it was leaking or no longer working,
but difficult to tell if worn unless you drive it and compare with another
vehicle.
Not sure what you are referring to here - a stabilizer implies the anti-roll
bar which is there to reduce roll in the corners although also limits
articulation. Some people with upgraded suspension will remove this to
improve articulation.
For a 2" lift you mainly notice a difference when travelling at speed on rough
roads. On a vehicle being used for Overlanding I would probably fit it, but
otherwise wouldn't bother - depends on budget I suppose.
