waffle boards - just to guage interest

Hi Chaps,
I have been in touch with Steve Breen and he says "I pulled the weight on
the smallest one I have, 7.77kg for the 38 X 1219 X 311mm units, my Japan
retail on that size is 9300yen" .(which I have calculated to be about £59,
and that is for the thinner ones) "If I ship by post that is going to be
pretty costly. Like to the point where I think you would be better off
buying local. Unless you want to take a whole stack of them kind of
thing. But after taking a quick look at the shipping, as stated above, I
doubt this is going to work unless you can get a group order together"
So it looks like we would have to order a few to make it economically
viable.

Hi all,
Joined this discussion a little late... been away from email.
It seems that waffles are just GRP floor grating and if you google
"GRP floor grating" you find lots of places in the UK selling it e.g.
http://www.duratread.co.uk/ I think the waffle boards sold by 4x4
suppliers may have the edges bonded after cutting but that's no big
deal.
The only problem is that floor grating suppliers don't want to deal in
small quantities. Maybe get a few people together and there is enough
to make a reasonable order.
For me it's too late - just ordered a pair last week :-(

Chas,
I think you meant in touch with Dave Stedman?
I did a quick search around and found some posts on Landy forums, one pointed to these people http://www.duratread.co.uk/sand_bridging_ladders.html they make the material which is more commonly used for flooring, the waffle boards are offcuts? They are calling me back.
Another was http://www.firstfour.co.uk/tracmats/tracmats-50mm-thick-818557-191400-467201.php
1500 x 310 x 50mm thick Weight 11kgs (ea). =C2=A387 incl VAT
Others to ebay seem to be =C2=A375-=C2=A385 for 50mm but often only 1200mm long. As a thought if the 1500mm is too long for people, cut it down to 1200mm and use the offcut as a jack stand, can't see whats wrong with a bit of wood or thick ply but people are selling squares for than purpose on ebay! (Won't the square just get imbeded in the mud?)

Tried to send this yesterday but it didn't go.
In case we don't get a group purchase sorted out because of shipping from
Japan or whatever, shipping within the UK will be another cost.

the board reseal with some resin.

Hi Malcolm,
I emailed them a couple of weeks ago, but I never got a reply. I
assumed they were not interested in small quantities, but I hadn't
seen the link for sand bridging ladders, I just went through the main
site and asked for a quote on two small pieces of grating of an
appropriate size.
201
That's for a pair and almost half the price of Devon 4x4 (64.34 inc VAT EACH)
