Ah, yes I remember.
I had something similar in my first car, a Volvo 145 on a frosty morning. I had only just passed my test and found that using the windscreen washers to remove frost from the windscreen was really effective…until it gets so thin it freezes again. This occurred just as I approached the bend on the private estate where I lived. Blind, I continued onto the grass verge straight over one of the short pointed concrete pillars that were dotted around. It bent the rear gearbox mount and tore the engine free of its mounts. I carried on the day with a knocking sound from underneath. It was the engine resting on the crossmember.
Several lessons learned that day!
