Gareth,
I'd be interested in your technigue!
I brought back a 10L of Waxoil last trip I make but I've yet to apply it.
I managed to rerust one chassis rail underneath and put on some POR but not
done other side yet and no doubt the initial side needs doing again.
Its amazing the difference having the 80 in (very wet) Scotland for 6 yrs
can make. I should have Waxoil'ed it the minute I brought it over from the
US but at that stage was planning on selling it.
I've a buddy with an 91 over here (Colorado only) and he has no rust
anywhere on his truck and he wheels it pretty hard. The air over here is so
dry (at 5500ft) and so little moisture. Get (dry) snow during the winter and
maybe rains 10 days of the year (sniff. sniff Irishman needing some rain!)
So my 'underneath' doesn't look too good and often requires plenty of spare
bits (bolts) when I'm planning on 'improving' anything as most of the time I
break bits and have to replace (getting good at taking out broken off bolts
etc.)
I've bought an air gun and have a compressor but not done any artistic work.
Presume I need to add an in-line (water) filter onto the hose.
Actually was a chap named 'Martin Lee 'who ran a farm in Wales (I think)
that ran an 80 who Waxoiled his every couple of years. Was on the 80scool
list but not 'seen' him for awhile. I'll try and send him an invite to the
'new' club.
