well, it had to happen....

You might struggle with the electrics, because you have had your fingers in there, they'll just say it must be something you've done. Although it isn't it gives them a handy get out.

update - new battery is charged up (a good 14 hrs) old battery disconnected still, car started fine. Will leave it for the day and see if its still charged later on.

As Reinhard says, It could be an internal short on the old battery hence the 2 draining down quickly and the old battery warm. Maybe coincidence that it died when in the garage for 3 months not being used? or did he weld something with it still connected? who knows.

you are right, but its too late now! If its the battery, then they get the cable sorted out (not stretched & clipped back into the clips), get the mirror working, and something done about that paint job I will be happier. If its not the battery then its something he has done for sure.

righto, things have moved on a bit since this morning.....

You remember I told you about the stone going through the window on the van last week? Well it just got worse!

See here first.

On the way home, as we cant afford not to work, we called into a garage and bought the biggest battery they had - for the Toyota. This has been fitted and with a fair wind and lots of luck, both the new ones will hold their charge. I just hope the old battery had a short inside, otherwise we are well and truly stuffed! We do have commercial replacement vehicle on the insurance but will it have a tow bar? how long will it take to organise? At least we can tow the mowers now (if Toyota works OK!)

Can it get any worse? I bl**dy hope not!

Still, cant complain......poor Dawn is well and truly shaken up :(

Good grief. Was the driver still pissed from the weekend?? Wrong side of the road and no stopping?? I'd start carrying that shotgun around so you can put them out of YOUR misery ...

forgot to mention, the 2 new batteries are showing 14.21 and 14.1 v each when on fast idle tick-over - I would think these are OK now wouldnt you?

Been out in it this afternoon, loaded up with everything we could fit in, half a dozen starts, and all appears healthy...................watch this space!

I'm not surprised she was shaken up, a door caving in like that right next to her must have been scary. I hope she wasn't injured.

At least you've got a nice package of evidence in that clip, should they deny responsibility.

Quick, pull the tape and plastic off, get a new glass while you're at it

Bloody hell that's not what you need!!!!
Atleast you know a good bodyshop

Hey guys, its OK really - life is a sh*t then you die!
We all have runs of bad luck, this one just seems to be going on a bit, maybe I shouldnt fly in a couple of weeks............

Well Steve, at the last count, you've had at the least 3 in a row, so if you're at all superstitious, there shouldn't be any more....

I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway, if that helps ...

Well, she started 1st tug this morning - hasnt missed a beat all day. Just add insult to injury, the ordered on Saturday Battery arrived this pm. Wasnt due till tomorrow/Thursday! Ho hum - as thats a bit chunkier than the one from local garage, I have just installed it - have another question that I will start a new thread on......winch bars....

Passed the garage this morning and 'popped in' told him I wasnt happy with the paint job and a couple of other things - cant do anything for 2 weeks or so. When pointed out runs and taped over handles etc, all he said was 'yes' - no sorry about that or anything!

Insurance co are no ffffing about with the van claim - as we managed to 'drive' it home and didnt get it 'recovered' we dont get a replacement vehicle, commercial or not! sizzzle phut, spark, KABOOM! we await another call.......

Love Insurance companies, dont you?

And at the same time your insurance company is updating the shared database calling you a high risk difficult customer so you will struggle to switch when the time comes , legal extortion i call it .
