went car shopping today..

The MB Trac 1500 satisfies all of my dark desires: tractors, truck type things, a bark from the engine that would frighten the dead, and things that are green... As much as I love the unimog, if I had 20 grand, it would be the Trac.

I was at a MB Truck Centre this morning and this beauty was parked next to the entrance.

You were at my work! You can see my hilux in the background! What were you on with?

That’s funny Josh, I was looking at that Hilux - will say hello next time. I was there to pick up the polar opposite to the Mog: a white A-class...

Note the pivot points, this is a four point mounted frame.

Really pleased with the crane. The size is perfect. Wouldn't want to be much bigger. Its only a 5t metre but reaches 30 foot with 2 manual extensions.
The days of mauling may finally be over!

Looks like good progress.
Hadn’t noticed before, it’s even named after your good lady. :)

Tipper body fitted. Off eBay. Originally fitted to a ldv convoy double cab.
Needed the old box section around the outside cutting out and new welding in.

It doesn't tip as yet.

Extending the ram to find its length. .

Now, if your gonna try this at home folks be careful. Each section shot up like a bullet once enough pressure built up to overcome the stiction on the seals!
Each time the whole thing left the floor by about 3", and its bloody heavy!

  Been there .

I had the rams from my Gray's Loader reconditioned by a firm in Glasgow. When I got them back I thought "I wonder if they'll extend with compressed air . . . ."

I really shouldn't have used 150 psi :laughing-rolling:.

Thanks rich.
Yes, it has crossed my mind. There are four loops welded onto the tipper body so I can remove it with the crane. Takes about 30 mins with unbolting etc. Or, as you say drop something inside the tipper body...

Haha! Your right there, I can't leave him alone for a second. He does love it.

With some tipping jobs coming up I was keen to get this working.
In true K_I_S_S style I found this piece of RSJ lying about the workshop.
Donkey saw doing the donkey work again while I get on with something constructive, drinking tea for example..
