White smoke, stuttering and loss of power - AGAIN!

Im also thinking it maybe injectors.
Another way timing can be affected is by weak springs in the injectors which allows them to open before the pump has reached full pressure.
This is the same as having the pump timing advanced. It causes combustion that is too cool.

Does the fuel pump still have the ACSD attached to the fuel pump?I was wondering if this stuck in the cold start position?
This would also advance the pump

Thought I'd post an update on this as I just got the truck back fixed

It did indeed turn out to be the pump and this is what I was told.... Apparently the pump has previously been either reconditioned or at least taken apart and tampered with and not properly cleaned when reassembled. Swarf (small peices of metal) were found to be blocking the "plunger" in the pump. Pump was cleaned, given all new seals and a new drive shaft fitted (found to be worn). The injectors were also reconditioned (done prior to removing the pump to rule them out). It now runs like a dream with less smoke than I've ever seen :D

Just so we know, who did the proper pump rebuild this time?
