To be fair, the nearest this trailer is going to get to an overland trip in the far to even distant future will be a heavily laden trip to the local tip... That said, it accompanied me to Lincomb last weekend with Matt's roof tent on it & did really well
Here we are outside the orifice on Wednesday afternoon - note Sankey in standard trim here...
Move forwards to Thursday... I had the day off to sort a few things out for Lincomb so spent a couple of hours down at Col's workshop fettling bits of metal for him to glue together for me to adapt the Sanky hubs for 80 series alloy wheels...
I'd been preparing for this for a while, getting flange profiles sorted & other bits & bobs machined up. After a bit more grinding on the reducer sections between the two flanges to make them fit in between the bolt holes on the trailer hub flange, Col got welding & very soon I had a pair of these...
In the excitement of fitting them, I forgot to take a pick of the adapter fitted to the bloomin hub but here's the wheel on...
Its pushed the wheels out a fair bit & they are considerably wider than the original Sankey wheel & Tyre setup but thats part of the effect I wanted to acheive so I can reduce the tub inside the trailer to give a more useful load area. I was going to try & match the track of the 80 but then the trailer would have been wider than its length!!!
I'll be making mudguards to cover up those fatboy tyres when I mod the tub.
