So, part of my expedition build was an upracks roof rack. within a few weeks, the weld at the rear had failed
here's a vid

upracks, the bunch of wankers, didn't want to know and wouldn't fulfill their legal obligations to sort the problem out. I bought this from a European supplier so the expense and aggro of taking them to court under european consumer law just wasn't worth the hassle, so I set about looking into getting it fixed. It became apparent that one of the rear rails was bent. Almost certainly this had happened during manufacturing. the factory had then attempted to weld the bar up, so making it look straight. Unfortunately the strain on the weld was too much and it let go shortly after I got the rack. It had carried no weight.
So, I went to see my mate stringer who runs a fabrication business in Westbury and he sorted it out for me, a very fine piece of work!!
If any one needs any fabrication work doing I'll pass you his details, just PM me.
he even lined up the groove on the plate with the inset on the rack!! IT looks damn near factory spec
