Just had a bit of a disaster. Pulled DS wing off today thinking it just wanted a minor bit of fibre glassing and basically it's totally stuffed. The areas of rust / missing metal are so large you couldn't repair across them. The inner wing is good really. Bit of a tart up and it'll be fine.

Milner are looking into getting a new pattern part for me, but currently the truck is parked up and of course we have Lincomb and the Overland show looming. Not looking good. I have a spare blue wing that needs a small repair which was supposed to go onto the other truck in order to remove the snorkel. I could maybe do that then use the blue one with the snorkel holes cut, to go onto the silver one after a respray But that's last resort stuff. Decent silver wing would be the best option, second would be a new wing, cut the holes then have it sprayed.

Anyone managed to find new wings other than at a dealer? Part is 53801-60063 according to research.

Damn. Didn't need that! I daren't take the other one off.

Think I have the snorkel template somewhere.

My local dealer. £325 inc. Quickest they can get it is 22nd this month.

Japan £50 cheaper.

80 breaker does refurbs about £160

ive got a pair that may or may not be better than what you have. But will need some work. Your quite welcome to look at them.

OK so Milner can get OEM, take 3 weeks and are around £280 each. I have mixed a skip full of resin and set to on patching them up to go back on to give me a breather. Thanks for the leads guys. I've seen the ones from Garry. They looked good, I'd forgotten about those but unless I went to actually pick them up and see them in the flesh as it were, I'd go with new OEM.

£248.90 all in Andy. For OEM.
I read it wrong(ly) on my phone.

Old wing coming together. I used a load of that mesh to get some shape. Another stint tomorrow should have it roughly wing shaped.

Ill be having a pair of them then in the not to distant future. Id guess most 80s are getting due new wings.

That is a fair price from Milner. Mine needs a pair (surprisingly), I was expecting a ridiculous figure. Yet another investment for the future.

The damage on mine is mostly out of site and the rest of the wing is excellent. I think I'l stick with the repair at least until I am gainfully employed I think. By the time you add on painting, it's going to be best part of a grand - which on a 20 year old bus is a lot.

So are milner actually going to stock these chris?

No. Not that I am aware of. You could ask them if they'd do a discount for a group buy I suppose. If there were enough people wanting a pair or even singles then they might look on that more favourably. I could see if Carl would entertain that. I just spoke to sales directly. I normally do get some discount when I deal with parts instead of the office upstairs but only on stock items.

The refurbished wings Garry sells are very well done l have to say Chris. The guy he uses did all of the body repairs on my grey 80. Shaped metal repair any rust at all removed and repairs finished inside as well as out. Fully cleaned down prior to undercoating. The wings chosen are reasonably good ones to start with anyway.

I think they'll sell a good few at that price, might have a couple myself.

The ones from Garry at 80breaker are good, I've got one on mine, he only had passenger side left at the time. The repair is done very well.
All i had to do was drill a hole for the very front of the arch extension (bolt behind the front bumper) my mate flatted and re primed it as he likes to know what he's painting.

Where it had been repaired (front) fitted well gave me a good shape to reshape my front inner arch I'd bent/damaged.

I paid £80 to have it re primed and painted at mates rates.

Could you not weld a bit into yours Chris? Had to cut a fair piece out on mine for the drivers side.

Price of the Milner ones is good if they fit well.

Ive spoke to garry about these, he had non in stock at the time as they sell like hot cakes and are proving very popular.

Which parts of the wing have gone exactly? I had a look behind mine with an endoscope camera last year through the gap in the door jamb at the back and through the side light opening at the front and as far as I could see they looked OK. I've been spraying in there with CorrosionBlock.

Weld to what Gary? Hmm

What's gone really is both ends at the lowest points so the joint by the sill and the part by the indicator

And everything else. Well not entirely to be really honest. Where it's bad it's dreadful and where it's good it's like factory fresh

Those were the bits I tried to get a look at plus the seam round the wheel arch between inner/outer wings. I had the front mud flaps off recently and there was lots of muck trapped behind them but no external rust thankfully. Maybe they go from the inside? I just don't understand the thinking behind having the sunroof drain into the sills. This must cause internal corrosion even with the sill drain slots kept clear?

Like I said, there is some internal rust on the inner wing, but not bad at all. I'll sort that out. I'll take some pics of the outer wing once it's decent enough to broadcast.
