    Cleaning EGR - advice please

Had a £20 Amazon giftcard burning a hole in my pocket, so just ordered a tin of this... Wynns WY23381 Diesel EGR Cleaner, 150 ml and also this... Wynn's Diesel Clean 3 Extreme Cleaner 500ML Having never used the EGR cleaner before (my truck has done 137000 miles) and seen recommendations on...

    coupling fan refill oil silicone

Yup....that's sorted it. Dismantled and drained the fan unit. Refilled (not overfilled this time) with 7000 cst and no more 'hyper' fan, except on a long drag up a steep hill today. Thanks for your ideas everyone.

    coupling fan refill oil silicone

Ok thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I've now also ordered some 7000 cst oil (so I will have tubes of 5000, 7000 and 10000 weight). I will dismantle and try different options to find the one that suits my truck use - 'suck it and see' as Clive said earlier! Many thanks, Nick

    coupling fan refill oil silicone

Thanks for your replies. Having also done a bit more searching on this and 'the other' forum, I have an idea that I might have upset the balance of the fans operation by refilling with 10000 cst oil. It seems the original units used 3500-4000 grade, although some have replaced theirs with 8000...

    coupling fan refill oil silicone

Did an overhaul of my fan clutch unit yesterday (also changed all belts, water pump, radiator and put in a 76 degree thermostat - not had any problems but with 133k miles on clock wanted to do some precautionary work). On test drive today, the vehicle comes up to temperature nicely and no signs...

That's one less job to do

Since I bought my 95 about a month ago, I haven't been able to get the rear diff lock to engage, although you could hear the clicking and all the dash lights were working correctly (but remained flashing red on the diff lock lamp). Was resigned to having to take the thing apart in line with...

Programming a replacement remote fob on a 3.0TD version Colorado

I've just done eBay search on 'toyota remote fob' and there are a couple on there which match my type.I appreciate there may be other types though. Here are the links (one of them has just four hours left as I write)...

    UJ question (hopefully very simple)

Hi, did you ever get to the bottom of whether the two UJs in the double cardan joint were inter-changeable with the other single UJs? I also need to change mine and obviously want to get the right parts (ideally not from Toyota dealers) before drifting the old ones out. Be interested to hear...

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

Two excellent write ups here - I will attack both of these when I do my radiator change and coolant flush in the next few weeks. I think I will stick in a 76 degree thermostat too, as I will be doing a bit of towing (1600 kg boat) with my vehicle.

drain and refill diff oils - handy hint

I have just drained and refilled all three diffs on my vehicle. The rear and centre (transfer box) diffs have 24mm plugs, while the front diff has a hexagonal drive style filler and plug that, in my case, were both 10mm. I had read on here that one was 10mm and the other was 12mm and I know...

Ah of course! Obvious now you mention it. Thanks Bob.

Slight oil leak between transfer box and autobox

Ok Bob, thanks for the thorough briefing! I might now have access to a hydraulic ramp and this sounds like the way to go, especially if I can recruit someone to help me with the heavy lifting/wriggling the T box free. You make a good point about just leaving the 'leak' until it becomes...

Slight oil leak between transfer box and autobox

I have noticed a slight leak at the forward end of my transfer box, where it mates with the back of the automatic gearbox. It is not enough to drop oil on the ground as I would certainly have noticed this. However, there is definitely wet oil around the join. It certainly appears to be oil and...

    squeel from engine

Many thanks to you folks who worked this one out! I have also had the annoying squeal and was starting to think it was the water pump on its way out, or something more sinister/expensive. Then read about the above 'spring stretching' fix and set about it this morning. Hey presto - no more...

Programming a replacement remote fob on a 3.0TD version Colorado

Having recently bought my 98 Colorado with two keys but only one remote fob, I have just bought a second remote fob (ebay £20) and obviously it needed programming to be recognised by my car's ECU. In case it helps anyone undertaking the same, here's what you need to do, if all you are looking...

Just bought my first Land Cruiser 95 - couple of questions please

I've sorted the annoying crunching aerial problem, but not without some panic and drama!! Had a play with the search button on this forum and managed to get a wiring diagram link, which I have now downloaded. My knowledge of auto-electrics is sketchy at best, but I saw that the auto-aerial has...

Just bought my first Land Cruiser 95 - couple of questions please

The two screws that hold the ashtray 'carrier' into the fascia don't need to be removed - the fascia will come off the dash with the ashtray carrier intact. I took the ashtray itself out though, to give me somewhere to grab the bottom of the fascia while pulling to get the clips to release...

Just bought my first Land Cruiser 95 - couple of questions please

Changing the stereo is easy. The plastic fascia pops off...start from the bottom near ashtray and work upwards. There are just four clips to pop. Then four bolts hold the L & R stereo brackets into the dash. Swap these brackets over to new stereo and refit. I needed an ISO converter kit to...

Just bought my first Land Cruiser 95 - couple of questions please

Hi all, Just got myself a 1998 (S plate) dark green automatic LWB Colorado VX. Got to say that these things put a smile on your face! I had previously owned a 3rd gen Hilux Surf and intended to move over to a Land Cruiser last year. However, a 2006 Mitsy Shogun with 50k on the clock tempted...
