"A/T temp light" coming on but then goes off when engine is started

The backstory to this is was that I was messing around using low range gears recently, and a day or so later when I fired it up I got some awful gear meshing sound when trying to pull away. It fixed itself once I turned everything off and ensured the low range gears was fully in the right slot...

"A/T temp light" coming on but then goes off when engine is started

Oh god you’re right. I’m an idiot. I just got it into my head that this was something new. Thanks for responding so civilly rather than saying (correctly) “you pillock!” :)

"A/T temp light" coming on but then goes off when engine is started

Yes but the "check engine" light also comes on at that point, and that concerned me the most. I'm not sure if I've seen the "A/T temp" light stay on like that before. Obviously a number of lights show when the key's in the ignition but then they go out (this is prior to starting the engine)...

"A/T temp light" coming on but then goes off when engine is started

Hi guys, Been a while since I posted but the cruiser's been running fine and I didn't have much to say :). A few days ago though I started to get the A/T temp light on and the check engine light when the key's in the ignition but the engine isn't running. The lights go off at that point. So I...

    finally got one

Yes the long cable is certainly the remote for the winch - has a toggle switch to extend/retract . I've not tried connecting i up yet though. TBH I'm not sure I'll be in situations where I'll need it, but the winch itself is so substantially mounted to the frame that I'll be leaving it on. Will...

Yes they're pretty much walking distance from me. which is handy :).

    finally got one

Thanks Clive. Not too bad underneath. I had a good scratch and sniff, and also brought a mechanic friend with me to get a more expert opinion. Everything looked very straight and in line with a 15 year old truck with 93K on the clock. Think the exhaust will need replacing soon but that and a few...

    finally got one

I've been looking around for a 100 for a while and decided in the end on this one. It's a low mileage 4.7 in generally good condition. A few things needed to be sorted, but overall I've been happy with it so far. Thought I'd show some pics! Unsurprisingly, the reg on it currently wasn't...

    The search continues (part 2/n)

Still on a search for a decent 100. Anyone dealt with TCS? They always seem to have a number on sale. Was thinking of visiting this weekend (they're not that far from me). I've decided on going for the latest example I can find just to filter things out, and was looking at checking out this one...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

It actually looked pretty good. I didn't do an intensive inspection but set the AHC to high and had a crawl underneath around and no obvious rust spots or rot. He had carried out his own Dinitrol underseal a few years ago. By that stage though I'd decided that it wasn't the one for me so didn't...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

Well I made the trip down to deepest darkest Wales to check out the 100. Had a great few days with the family and the cockers on their first trip away. The bodywork is in excellent condition, though does have a couple of rust spots on the tailgate (I know this is very common). It drove very...

    Checking out this LC 100

Thanks guys, lots of good info to digest. He's replaced the rear diff lock (and replaced aerial) so hopefully they'll be ok. I've checked a few 100's and that aerial does seem to more often be bust than not :). I'll certainly get a good luck underneath. Says he's got all bills for work he's done...

    Checking out this LC 100

I went a bit off topic in the 80 forum as I've been looking for advice on this LC100 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-Toyota-Landcruiser-LC100-Amazon-VX-4-2-Diesel-Automatic-Excellent-Condition/112767895442 Original thread here...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

Well we just so happening to be out for our first weekend jaunt with dogs in tow and he's near where we'll be visiting (Brecon Beacons), so could well be going out in one vehicle and coming home in two :). I'm not going to be rash but I do like the look and feel of this one and price seems ok...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

I'm checking this one out at the weekend... Have had a couple of useful chats with the seller on FB. Seems like a knowledgeable chap who's focussed on putting money into sorting the important things. Will see...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

I work from home so it'll mainly be used for weekenders/holidays in the UK. So a thirsty V8 petrol doesn't put me off that much as overall fuel costs won't be a big part of the package. I've been quite tempted by this one https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201712011734601 low...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

That is a beaut. I did actually set my budget to £20K max, but I'm not going to jump down this particular rabbit hole :). I can imagine it being a great addition to a garage, but I'm after something a bit rougher that I can throw the dogs and family into without worrying about damaging the...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

I just had an email from him saying he'll ship it direct to my door for £14K all in. Not looking to bad-mouth anyone but yep that's steep, particularly buying unseen... As I say - was suffering from cruiser fever :). Going to take my time, but am seeing one this weekend that looks like it's...

Thanks for those wise words. I appreciate it. I'm getting into a bit of a cruiser fever as for various reasons I really wanted to have something by the weekend, but not going to make any impulsive decisions. I'm going to check out an Amazon (100) this weekend instead ('99 model and although...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

my experience so far btw is always had Lexus - LS400, LS430, GS 450H, and Supra (for our Toyota cousins). Have driven a LC 100 test drive recently and quite liked it but was extremely tatty. This 80 is similar price but looks mint in comparison. Only concern is maybe I'd regret manual...

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this

I've been looking out for a decent 80 for a while now and am seriously interested in this one Prices seem to be all over the place on the 80 series but I'm willing to pay a premium for one that's tight and that will last. Anyone have any thoughts on this one ...
