OK it's on the list of TO DO before I go down to Norfolk in Sept. I have been looking up information on using it locked for towing . I found one site that said not to use it locked for towing up hill !!! Surely that's the point just what are the DO'S and DON'TS of locking up the torque...
Glow plugs used t be reserved for indirect injection engines. In the early days of indirect injection there was a device that basically stared a "controlled" fire in the inlet manifold !!! and yes they were rubbish . Most direct injection engines relied on an enriching device that was either...
FOUND IT!!!! Getting a bit rusty in my old age still can't fathom how you get charged 200 dollars for what amounts to a spot light relay and switch or am I missing something ??
Bob.
I know of a few Diesel shops round here but their prices vary wildly they always seen to find a fault that wasn't included in the price . That's why I want to buy a set and just get a price for fitting/setting up . Are they shimmed or a screw type adjustment ? Part of my apprenticeship was 3...
Hi Andy.
As far as I know it will work without the extreme valve mod but not in first or reverse . You don't have a wiring diagram for it do you ?
Cheers, Bob
As above I am running on 5 1/2 cylinders at some points on tick over just enough not to be able to find the offending injector by cracking open a feed pipe so I'm going to bite the bullet and have them all checked before my caravan trip down to Norfolk at the end of the month. At just coming up...
I ha seen these for an 80 on an Australian site at 200 dollars plus for a couple of relays that sounds a tad expensive to me any one got an alternative ??
Bob
Whilst sorting the rear suspension on my recent purchased 80 I noticed the diameter of the front spring coils compared to the standard ones I was fitting back to the rear . The ride is altogether too hard for a tarmac jockey pulling a caravan so it's going back to standard. Anybody got any...
Still in love with my new ride but people keep asking me "How much will it have been new ?" It a 1994 12 valve VX auto diesel 8 seat leather interior I have tried to find a price list but can't anyone help ? Oh and the return key ain't working again:cry:.................Bob
Try a separate feed to the cut off solenoid. Or wire a temp bulb into the original feed to the solenoid that you can see in the cab and see if it blinks when you get the miss. OK I'll get my coat:?.
Many thanks. The feed I am talking about is to the heater unit in the filter itself thats without the engine running. Can't see any vacuum unit to operate it.
Bob
Looks like it's not working . It has an ignition feed but certainly not getting warm . Is this a permanent feed or is there a temp sensor of some kind that switches it on and off ?
Yes cross eyed:icon-biggrin:. The beams were only about 20 foot in front of the truck since it had a suspension lift( not by me) should have been picked up on the MOT also the OSF main beam bisects the NSF after about 30 ft.
Sometimes I get some very good quality used veg oil that only needs de watering and filtering but I like it to be less viscous and I was wandering if the standard fitting would do the job before the heat exchanger warmed up but if not I'll knock up a glow plug block.
The ACL BEBs arrived yesterday thanks Karl . After being in the motor trade for nearly 40 years with all my contacts I could only beat the price you are offering them at by £1.00 and I'm not fully sure the supplier was 100% on the ball as to exactly what I wanted so I dealt with somebody who...
The reason I ask is because I intend to run my new ride on bio/WVO. What activates it and can I switch it to manual ?? Sorry return key not working !!!!! Bob
Thanks Clive.
Those are just a sample of what has been spent over the last 3 years And he has only done around 4,000 miles in that time . I tow a very large heavy twin Axel caravan and use it all year round my 2001 2.5 Shogun Sport was only just up to it. I blew the head gasket on the way back...
