I have a 105 series that im contemplating selling .
It's a 1999 T reg with only 1 owner other than me from new

Is there a market for 105 series or am i just gonna get the same value as a petrol 100 series?

And how do i value such a rare car?

Cheers

The one I was going to buy was 1 owner from new 140k and went for £3500. What spec is yours as I may be tempted?

I've had it for 2 months and just can't get on with it .
Looking at going back to an 80 series manual diesel
I paid £6000 for it from a lad in liverpool. he was a trader who speacialised in cruisers . He'd only had it a couple of days

Saw one go through on ebay for £8090 on 16th may on ebay

Would be nice to sell and make some money .

I wouldn't be interested at that figure as I can buy for less else ware. The one you linked had only has 37000 km so is very low.

I am guessing it's got the 1hz engine!?

The people that would be in the market for this type of car would be those going on a expedition to remote areas (and maybe not in a hurry).

Yes its petrol . 4.5 6 cylinder . Same engine as 80 series but has no
Catalytic convertors. .
Australians obviously not into saving the planet

I reckon it'll have the FZJ 4.5 petrol motor, as the OP references to a petrol 100 as comparison in the first post. Personally I really like the 105, it's an 80 with the newer body. What's not to like? People are struggling to find decent 80's to buy, so a 105 could be just the ticket to get a rugged, tough, well engineered LC that hasn't suffered such a hard life, or seen so many salted winter roads.

The down side is that as the 105 was built as a rugged vehicle it didn't get the HDJ engine (IIRC), so a lot are the less powerful but longlived 1HZ, many if these receive aftermarket turbo installs with varying degrees of success. Or you got the petrol FZJ, which again is a simple, tough engine, with more refinement than the diesel but a bit more thirst. As I wanted an auto I bought a FZJ, I'm not even sure if you could even get the 1HZ with an auto, that would be a bit sluggish. It's a great truck and I haven't regretted my decision, the FZJ is very quiet, smooth and capable.

The specs are a bit different to what we're used to in the UK, the twins tanks is a great help, but more often than not they don't have the OEM axle diff locks. Obviously aftermarket items can be fitted, and you could look at it from the other perspective, if you went to via an 80 chances are the axle diff locks will be U/S due to lack of use or corrosion. So you'd have to spend money on them any way.

OP - You have a nice 105 there, if you target your market you should get your money back. The petrol engine might scare people off, but it has been discussed may times on here before, the petrol isn't actually as bad to fuel as you may think, the MPG difference between them is not that much. Plus petrol is cheaper to buy than diesel, and the cronies that decide car policy in the UK are now thinking that diesels are the spawn of satan.

An FZJ105 could be just the ticket?

edit: OP confirmed the FZJ whilst I was typing!
