4.2 Turbo problems? Please help

Turbos normally either work or don't work ....at which point it will probably let you know by doing an impression of RED 1 and leave a trail of smoke in your wake....
That said VVT Turbos can cause issues.....you can normally see the actuator move as you rev the engine and as you say test it by application of a vacuum...make sure the vanes on the turbo move ...
Not an expert on FTE's but don't they also have swirl flaps ? could these be causing a problem ..... also as the 100 has an intercooler take the upstream pipe off the cooler and run the engine.... it won't like it but you should as you rev it feel a definite push from the turbo if you put your hand over the end ( the engine can still breath admittedly unfiltered air straight into the intake ) crude but it will prove your turbo is working....

Well guys it is solved. The solenoid above the turbo that allows vacuum to the diaphragm was the culprit. A broken wire going into the plug to it. Car feels like a fast car tonight! Thanks for the help.
