Could someone tell me what happens when I push my pedal down as it does not seem to be a uniform force required to push it to the floor. It goes down one third and then seems to need a little more pressure to go the rest.

Is it drive by wire ie electric or is it a good old accelerator cable?

The reason I ask is if I could be picking up on the Throttle body sticking from the accelerator pedal or not?

Fully Drive-By-Wire.
The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor utilizes a Hall element that outputs a voltage that changes linearly. This is doubled up for reliability.
In addition there is an idle position switch attached to the pedal (incorporated in the same unit).
