Hello all,

I have dropped the Sony just one too many times, and now it's not as clear as it was.

To be honest, I have never been overly pleased with the 12 MP Sony, so the fact that it's been dropped once too many, doesn't really bother me. Read "Godsend"

However, I have been looking at the Aldi 14 MP Traveler. at just £47.00 has to be in with a shout.

It can't be any worse than the Sony, but can any one give any ideas on what the images are like what it can take.
14MP doesn't mean much, if the CCD Sensor is just a pinhead.

I had a Samsung L85, just 8MP, but fantastic images.
Then along comes the 12MP Sony, what a load of junk.
I believe the Sony was rubbish because it had a small CCD sensor.
The 14MP Aldi one, says the CCD sensor is 1/2.33 inch.

All I want is a decent picture, but not going to SLR.

I'm going to guess it'll be a case of you get what you pay for. :hand: Poor quality lenses, noisy CCD etc. Been there, done that.

A long time ago I bought a Canon Ixus 70, it's only 7.1 mp but it's good enough for me, all the pics I have posted on here were taken with that camera, I bought it because it has a viewfinder as well as a screen on the back which made it much better for using in bright sunlight, it's been so good for many years that I looked for another to replace it should it ever fail but I think it is no longer available but I found on eBay a Canon SD1000, one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANON-POWERSH ... 415dea8107, which is essentially the same camera as the Ixus, so I now have a spare. The first one is now a little battered but still going strong though.

If you want to get technical this place has some very indepth reviews of all kinds of digital cameras:

and if you want to find the best price for your chosen camera have a look here:

Not sure either of them are going to cover an Aldi special. I would agree that with cameras you get what you pay for and if you want good quality shots I think you'll have to spend more than £47.
