Does anyone have a set of 80 landcruiser alloys on a collorado and a pic to see what they look like.
i have a set but dont want to go to the expense of changeing tyres to find it looks odd.

I have 265/75/16 bf mts on at the moment but keep getting stuck, what would be the maximum size i could fit without them fouling, i have body lift and suspension lift already.
would 305/70/16s fit and be taller ?
any suggestions or recomendations

Joe, I think 305s will make your problems worse - they will almost certainly foul/rub and they're not much taller than a 265. 305s will dig less than your 265s and they create more rolling resistance, which will make your LC feel sluggish and use more fuel
You're probably better off with a taller, narrower tyre like a 255/85 like Steven/SAE70 has fitted to his SWB.

Cheers,

Cheers,

thanks for the info thats what i was bothered about fouling, i have been watching sae70s build but unfortunately ive had my tyres on for 8 months now or i may well have gone for the same size as him.

i would rather have the arches looking more filled as the standard wheels sit far to far inside.

My friend has 80 alloys with 285/75 tyres under his 90 and it´s looks very nice.
I like wider tyres, and I can suggest you 305/70R16 tyres. I think 285/75 looks little too narrow...
These are 305/70R16 Dick Cepeks, looks very optimal size to my eye. I think the wheel specs are very close to LC80´s alloys (8x16, ET 0):

The fuel consumption with my 33x12.50R17 is very close to same than with oem 265/70R16, always under 11 l/100 km (exept when towing a caravan).
Not think about it, it always drinks everything you give it to her.

Here's a couple of pics of 'Gav Peter's' Collie sporting 80 series alloys :)

As I'm sure you are aware I've got a set of 255/85/16's on Fiery that stand a little over 33" high (33.07") with no rubbing & I only have a suspension lift :D This size really restricts your choice of tyre manufacturer though :( The 265/75/16's that your have currently fitted equate to a 31.65" tall tyre & your proposed 305/70/16 tyre size choice equates to a 32.81" tall tyre :) But is a mighty wide item & would almost certainly give some rubbing issues :!: If you want a taller tyre with little or no rubbing with your current set up & you don't want your tyre manufacturer choice limited by the 255/85/16 size then the 285/75/16 tyre size is a very good option & is 0.25mm great in diameter than the 305/70/16 @ 32.83" :)

265/70/16 (30.61/10.43/16) standard fitment

265/75/16 (31.65/10.43/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +13.21mm

305/70/16 (32.81/12.00/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +27.94mm

285/75/16 (32.83/11.22/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +28.19mm

255/85/16 (33.07/10.04/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +31.24mm

Hope this helps :D

Thanks for the replys chaps,

sae70 they are the same alloys i have so my truck would look the same as that one although more scratched
so thats that bit sorted 80 alloys are going to be fitted now just have to decide on tyres now.

so i have 13.21mm extra ground clearance with these bfs i have now
265/75/16 (31.65/10.43/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +13.21mm

and would get 14.21mm more if i plumped for these not realy worth the extra cost
305/70/16 (32.81/12.00/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +27.94mm

so these are the tallest tyres giveing me another 18.03mm over my current tyres
255/85/16 (33.07/10.04/16) extra ground clearence over std fitment +31.24mm

so are they wide enough to fill your arches they look good from a side on shot but from front do they look thiner than stanadard or am i missing something :?

These could be over 33" in some brands, e.g. check this: http://www.coopertire.com/html/products ... sorttype=T
Well you know how it is :D What I've said is only based on the figures & maths & dosn't take any account for manufactures differences & rim widths :) But hey Ho got to have a starting point :D

I did only cut & paste the above info from this table that I posted on another thread, where I did say no allowance had been made for rim wisths & pressures :D

Here's something prety sad I did for myself the other evening

265/70/16 30.61/10.43/16 standard fitment

265/75/16 31.65/10.43/16 increase in diameter over std fitment 26.42mm extra ground clearence over std fitment +13.21mm (+13.21mm)

305/70/16 32.81/12.00/16 increase in diameter over std fitment 55.88mm extra ground clearence over std fitment +27.94mm (+14.73mm)

285/75/16 32.83/11.22/16 increase in diameter over std fitment 56.39mm extra ground clearence over std fitment +28.19mm (+00.25mm)

255/85/16 33.07/10.04/16 increase in diameter over std fitment 62.48mm extra ground clearence over std fitment +31.24mm (+03.05mm)

This of course makes no allowance for how these tyre sizes are effected by rim width & inflation pressure
:D

Clearly they are thinner than standard, the maths shows this :) I have to say I was very worried about them myself & was 98% certain before I had them fitted that I was going to get a set of 30mm spacers to push them out into the arch a bit more :) But now I've had a chance to get to know them & with all of the possible cons of fitting spacers I'm very comfortable with how they look :D I don't think that they look atall odd in any way :D But this is just my own HO :) The actuall foot print that they lay down pumped @ 30psi is 7" wide :)

i see what you meen they do look thinner but that may be down to how far in the wheels are, infact thats the main reason i was asking in the first place as i dont like the way mine looks like it would tip over being tall and skinny.
is there a wider 85 series tyre or is that getting to much

I'm not sure about the wider 85 series but why not just go for a 285 width tyre if your unsure about the look of the 255 :) As KZJ90 pointed out the 285 Cooper STT on an 8" rim is prety much the same diameter of a 255/85/16 KM2 but is about 30mm wider :D

If it was me smokey Joe i would go for the 255 as on the 80 series wheels you are going to have a wider stance anyway. so in my opinion its going to look right and you shouldn't have any fouling issues and get the most diff/axle clearance.

Joe
