Hi all,
Has anybody have heard of theses guys: http://www.oec4x4.com ?
They claim to they grew up with LCs and "over the past 3 years ...
have prepared... well lets just say without blowing our own trumpet,
quite a few landcruisers."
And yet after hours they put snorkels on Suzuki Jimny's! :)))
Any recommendations?

Never heard of them - not that I would have anyway - and I'm afraid
Newton Abbot is too far from here for me to have any local knowledge.
If you want a wurzel-prepared vehicle I'd recommend
http://www.devon4x4.com/
I've used them for my LC and they are good as well as reasonably priced.
And I'd use the Exeter Gearbox Centre for anything downstream of the
engine.

As far as I know OEC are relatively new and are the TJM main UK distributor.
I have spoken to Anton down there - seems a nice chap - I think he is from SA.
I don't know of any LCs that they have prepped, but know of people that have bought kit from them and have been happy with the service.

Yep I heartily recommend them.
I have been down to see Anton a few times, and he has done some great
work for me. In fact the 80 is going down this week for a tjm suspension
kit, a snorkel and some other bits and bobs to be fitted. He also did me
an absolute bargain deal when I did a group buy for a Land rover forum
where I often inhabit (forums.lr4x4.com), when I bought 30 hooks and
thimbles. A very good friend of mine who runs a variety of off road
competitions, days out and expeditions is just being sponsored by Anton-
www.4x4adventures.co.uk in regards to a challenge series next year!
Workshops are very accomplished I think, he has a large portfolio of
some very very nice overland work he has prepped. Their head mechanic
runs a nice 24v 80 with a 50mm lift and some other bits and bobs, and
their always seems to be one of two LCs down there.
One thing I do know is that they are just starting to produce sliders
for 80s- the prototype looks well made and very carefully designed.
I sound like an advert for him, but I have no connection other than
being a very very satisfied customer.
As to devon4x4, I have competed against Bucky (the owner) for a number
of years in off road comps and whilst he supplies some great off road
products, he doesn't have the overland or LC experience that Anton does.
If you want advice or help then Anton is a great guy to phone and chat
to.

Roman,

I've had a few emails from OEC. They tend to stock plenty of TJM gear. At the time i was communicating with them I was considering adding the usual stuff like lifts and bars etc... but TJM prices over hear in the UK would appear on average to be 10% more expensive than OME gear... items like the winch bar for instance was =A3560 before VAT vs. =A3560 with VAT from TJM to OME... given that the overall quality [depending on who you talk to] is much the same between the two brands I didn't buy the TJM gear. As a result of the bredth of stuff they have i think they'll do work on any 4x4. I've seen LC's, LRs done by them, my own current 4x4 is a Shogun and they''ll do Patrols and more! There a 4x4 fitters I believe more than any specialist brand fitter.
I hope this helps.

Al
