Today's project was something that has been bugging me for a long time. The armrest/centre console is too low to be useful really. So out it came for a simple mod to raise it. I thought about building a unit from scratch, but wanted it to look OEM...

Knocked together a spacer unit from some old laminated MDF I had lying about

you could go into production with that! I would buy one:)

Hey Bob - Really good job, I've been thinking about this but as normal, never get to it, but now I've seen your mod, very good and makes me want to do mine, have you any rough sizes on your timber frame, I'll get some and make a start.

Hi Moz, One bit of advice... DO IT!!! Im so glad i did it, its great.

Rough dimensions as follows:

Height change = 140mm
Rear section = 200mm x 200mm
Front section = 140mm x 140mm
the front section needs to be raised by 15mm and attached to the rear one.
Then line it up with the existing holes and drill.

These sizes are rough, but it doesn't need to be perfect, once it covers the inner area pretty well.

Hey Bob,

Many thanks for idea !!! It works well. I have used same dimentions. All went well, 4 hrs job in workshop. Instead of studs, I mounted wood frame to the car with bolts and later armrest with wood screws. Its very stable. Worst thing was covering empty spaces with material. It took like 3/4 of the time I spend. Thanks again man for your post !!!

Good to hear you took it on. Its been 8 years since I did that, and it has been solid and great all that time.
