Hi everybody out there
yesterday i drove my LC and suddenly came a beep like a drill machine from
the front left on the dashboard...when I blink to the left or right it
disappears, but again came after driving forward.stop the engine-again the
same beep-very annoying if you ask me...after a while disappear for good.I
know it will come back again soon or later...any ideas what might be?no
warning lights ...nothing at all to show me there is something wrong ...
cheers

Hi,
Tow bar attachment wet?
I have something similar on mine expect mine is the opposite, occasionally
(usually after jet washing or wading deep ;-) ) when I indicate left and
right I get a bleeping coming from the back at the rear.
Still not figured it out yet, I do have a laptop installed in the back
(drivers side where the beeping is coming from) although it only does it
when my tow bar(the plug) gets wet I believe.
Not had a chance to track it down yet as it stops usually quite quickly and
then won't appear again for months and have not been too worried, I am
guessing mine is the tow bar plug getting wet, sound like a huge lorry when
they are in reverse. Beep, pause, Beep, pause Beep but in time with the
flashing of the indicators.
Don't even know if mine is an aftermarket tow bar or a Toy one as it was on
the vehicle when I purchased it. Mines a 70 series as well so not an 80.
Is the beep the same sort of tone as the beeper that reminds you when you
leave the lights on?
Hope it helps?
Martin Naylor.

That's what I am thinking Martin. Either the lights on, or the door open
beeper shorting out.

Yeah great mind's think a like ;-).
Without hijacking this thread, my beep is a bit weirder as I don't have the
laptop on when mine does it and its certainly coming from the driver's side
at the rear of the vehicle.
I am thinking its fitted with an aftermarket beeper(somewhere) that is
shorting out on the reverse tow bar attachment(when wet) if that makes
sense. Unless it is coming through the laptop somehow.
Weird eh, but Lubo's problem seems more annoying.
Cheers
Martin.

Hi Clive,
Yeah I guess, but it must only comea on when the tow bar plug is plugged in.
I don't tow anything and never had, so I will remove the wiring loom
shortly, may even dip the socket in water see if it does it then.
Cheers
Martin.

unfortunately NOT :-( the sound is strange ...like drilling in concrete and
coming from the front left of the dashboard.I also suspect some damp inside
the steering wheel 'couse the car had a lot of water under my feet while
parked at the airport in Stockholm(probably some hard rain)
but it is some electric annoying stuff at the steering wheel...

It sounds a bit as if you have a relay chattering: are your fuses and
relays under the dash on the left hand side? Mine are under the right,
but then mine is right hand drive and yours may be swapped over. If it
got wet how about pointing a hair-drier up under the left hand side of
the dash for a few hours to dry things out?

It could be water in the fuel filter, if it's a diesel.
Some LC models have a buzzer that sounds if water collects in the
bottom of the fuel filer, If your filter has a drain tap on it, try
draining some out and see if that stops it.
