Greetings Landrover enthusiasts!
Just booked the ferry!
Picking up a shed load of stuff from Stuart Hamilton - tarmac for the driveway fund raided.
Will track a few of you down for a beer. Have saved a few numbers that have been posted.

I emailed Stuart to buy the roofrack but he emailed me back and said someone
had already agreed to buy the lot.
Don't suppose you'd be willing to let the roofrack go would you? I really,
really need one and have been searching for one for ages!!!
Please!!??

OTOH I like to think that we are a community that help each other out when
need arises. I have been searching for a rack for my 80 within my price
range for several months, I need one desperately and I have saved searches
on Ebay, autotrader, adtrader and a host of other sites with no luck. For
various reasons I cannot afford the price for a new good quality rack.
You did beat me to it and that's fair enough. But I desperately need (rather
than want) one and I like to think that if the roles were reversed I would
decide who has the greater need and act accordingly.
It seems that today's world is a harsh one.

Hey Pete
What is your budget for the rack and what size Full/Short do you want.
Do you want it made of Alu or Metal and what load rating.
I ask because if there are more than you looking it may happen for you.
cheers

Hi John
I can probably scrape together =A3200, maybe =A3250 tops for the rack and
preferably a ladder as well. The rack needs to be strong as it will have to
put up with abuse and needs to be strong enough to stand on. Full length is
good.
Aluminium alloy would be good but I doubt the strength would be adequate so
galvanised steel is probably the correct option. Also steel is easier to
repair than ally should the need arise. However, if an ally one were to turn
up for the right money then I would seriously consider it. However, it does
need to look OK as opposed to "functional", if you know what I mean.
Thanks John
Pete

I hear you Pete
If we meet for a beer @ the w'end i've a story about a Tibeten goat that travelled on a roof rack from the foothills of the Himalayas to Kathmandu - the main course for our Dashu festival dinner. Without the roof rack he'd have been sitting beside me all the way!
Bottom line don't leave home without one!!
