perhaps roof bars isn't the smartest idea, but then a roof tent can fasten very nicely onto roof bars.

I've got OEM roof bars on mine and I definitely wouldn't mount a roof tent on them. I had to get extra height brackets to mount the roof rack above the bars before the Africa trip and they'll be the first things I remove when I get back to that truck. Just my 5c, maybe others are stronger?
